Our Founder’s Journey

Our founder, Jerrell, is a proud husband, father, and Oklahoma native. His journey to creating Lil Phat is deeply personal and inspiring.

For a period, Jerrell struggled with finding his focus, calling, and reconnecting to his purpose. Remembering his grandfather's deep roots in agriculture and sweet potatoes, he had an idea!

In that pivotal moment, Jerrell knew he wanted a different future for himself and his family.

The Birth of Our Soul Food Vision

During that time, Jerrell and his now-wife were just friends. As a single man, he found himself eating out almost every meal. However, he consistently faced frustrations: cold food, poor service, and incorrect orders. Even when he specifically asked for fresh food and waited, disappointment often followed.

A Shared Vision

Years later, married and both working long hours, Jerrell and his wife encountered the same problem. They were paying too much for meals that weren't hot, fresh, or made with care.

One night, after yet another frustrating takeout experience, they began brainstorming. They wondered what if they could offer something better—good food, made fresh, served hot, and at prices people could actually afford. From that conversation, Lil Phat was born.
